I am Bev Swanston and here is some information about me.
Why did I decide to become a Foot Health Practitioner in 2017?
I had worked for the local Fire Service for over 22 years and enjoyed my role immensely but after they had an organisation restructure, I had the chance to take redundancy. This opened up a golden opportunity for me to completely change my career.
I have always enjoyed meeting new people and I have a caring personality. After doing plenty of research and having the opportunity to shadow two chiropodists, I decided that becoming a Foot Health Practitioner would be a perfect new career for me. I wanted to assist people that are unable to attend a clinic and be that someone that can visit a patient in the comfort of their own home.
I studied to become a Foot Health Practitioner at the SMAE Institute based in Maidenhead. This is the longest running and independent provider for Foot Health in the UK, with a reputation of excellence. I obtained a Diploma in Foot Health, passing the course with a “Distinction”.
The course is also the only one University credit rated in the UK by the Queen Margaret University in Scotland. I am a member of The College of Foot Health Professionals (MCFHP) and a member of The British Association of Foot Health Professionals (MAFHP).
